Welcome to Rein & River - a different kind of horse experience in the Goulburn Valley. We’re here for the seasoned riders, the first-timers, the adventure seekers and, yes, the Nervous Nellies too.
No pressure. No pretence. No need to prove you can ride.
Just good horses, river country and enough time to settle in, have a laugh and remember why getting outside felt like such a good idea in the first place.

Superpower: Brains. Lots of them. Possibly more than is convenient.
Most likely to: Know what you're asking before you've finished asking it.
They work for carrots. Management is considering their request.

The Rein & River herd is still growing.
We're currently searching for the next very special horses to join Eleanor West and Emerson - and we're being a little fussy about it.
They'll need to be kind, capable, honest and genuinely enjoy their job. Most importantly, they'll need to be the sort of horse we'd happily put someone we love on.
We don't know their name yet.
We don't know what colour they'll be.
But somewhere out there, the next Rein & River Rascal is waiting for us.

Why Horses?
We don't promise a horse ride will fix everything. But we reckon a little time in the saddle can make the world feel different.
There’s a lot to be said for nowhere else to be.
WHY WE RIDE
Some things are better felt than explained.
There’s a point on a ride when you stop thinking about riding.
Leather creaks. A horse breathes underneath you. A horse flicks an ear. The track keeps going, and whatever was chewing up space in your head gets a little quieter.
Maybe it lasts ten minutes. Maybe it follows you home.
We’ve spent a lifetime coming back for it. Now we’d love to share some of it with you.

THIS IS WHERE WE ROAM.
Where two states meet, the Murray rolls by and life moves at horse pace - with the river at our doorstep, river gums overhead and open country all around.

Australia’s longest river and the heart of our backyard. It shapes the land, the wildlife and the way we live.

The Goulburn River joins the Murray right here, bringing life, history and a whole lot of country spirit.

THE STORY BEHIND REIN & RIVER
HORSES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HOME.
Horses have woven their way through every chapter of my life. The good years. The wild ones. The hard ones. The years when life got busy and horses slipped a little further into the background - only to somehow find their way back again.
Some of my earliest and strongest memories are tied to horses, family and country.
My Aunty Janelle has been a second mum to me for as long as I can remember. The youngest sister after four older, very wily brothers, she built a life around horses, cattle, country and the things that matter. Through my wilder teenage years and every version of me that followed, she was one of the people who kept my feet - and quite often my backside - firmly connected to a saddle.
Then there’s my younger brother Tony. Like most siblings, we’ve spent a lifetime perfecting the art of loving each other while occasionally wanting to throttle one another. But when it came to horses, he was always the one saying: Get back on. Ride the horse.
Even in the years when I didn’t feel fit enough, brave enough or quite like myself, he never made riding feel like something I had to earn my way back to. He just reminded me that it was still there. And maybe that’s what horses have always done for me. They’ve never asked who I was supposed to be. They’ve simply met me where I was.
There were businesses, moves, family, renovations, wrong turns and a fair few moments where life looked nothing like I thought it would. Horses weren’t always at the centre of it all - but they were never really gone. Sometimes they waited quietly in the background until I was ready to find my way back.
Rein & River grew out of all of it - the people who kept me riding, the horses that waited quietly while life got noisy, a few hard lessons, plenty of detours and one stubborn idea I finally decided to stop talking myself out of.
I’m not trying to build the fanciest horse place. I’m trying to build the sort of place I’d want to arrive at. Good horses. No posturing. Beautiful country. Enough time to settle in. A laugh when we can get one.
Sometimes you just have to begin. Get back on the horse. Follow the idea. Take the risk. Be bold enough to see where it leads. And maybe that’s what Rein & River is really about. Not getting everything perfect - just being brave enough to start.
